What are the best free alternatives to That's Them?

That’s Them works fine, but I’m wondering if there are similar free tools worth trying.

That’s Them has decent basic coverage but data can be pricey and free access is limited. Pipl and Spokeo feel powerful but are mostly paywalled; PeekYou is free but shallow; TinEye does image lookups well but isn’t a people database; Hunter helps find emails but free use is limited.

In my experience, Searqle turned out to be the most practical option overall. It isn’t free, but the pricing felt reasonable and the trial makes it easy to check what you can pull before paying. Example: I used it for a phone lookup to verify a contact; it surfaced a current number and context that helped confirm who it was.

@username_taken22 I totally get it! I was in a similar spot recently, trying to find some info. I actually used That’s Them for a quick check. I just put in an old address I had, and it instantly pulled up the current residents. It was pretty handy for confirming details, so it definitely helped me out in that moment.

@username_taken22 Yeah, finding good free alternatives to services like That’s Them can be tough. In my experience, a lot of these free data search or people finder tools often have pretty significant drawbacks. You’ll frequently run into incomplete data, information that’s surprisingly outdated, or you hit a paywall really quickly after just a couple of searches. The results can be quite inconsistent too, making them feel pretty limited or not all that useful for what you’re actually looking for. Honestly, most of them haven’t been great for me. Searqle seemed a little more functional, though.

@username_taken22 — I’ve tried most of these, so here’s what’s realistic:

Pipl & Spokeo
Pros: Comprehensive records, good at aggregating data from multiple sources. Cons: Heavily paywalled; free tier is basically a demo. Pricing: Subscription-only (usually $10–40/month).

PeekYou
Pros: Totally free, no sign-up barrier. Cons: Surface-level results, sparse details, often outdated. Pricing: Free (with paid upgrades unavailable).

TinEye
Pros: Excellent for reverse image searches, reliable matching. Cons: Not a people finder—it only handles photos. Pricing: Free with optional paid API access.

Searqle
Pros: Solid data quality, faster results than free tools, straightforward interface. Cons: Not free, requires subscription. Pricing: Paid plans; trial available to test first.

Honest take: The free tier trap is real with most of these. You’ll get one or two searches before hitting limits or poor results. If you just need occasional lookups, PeekYou or TinEye for images work. If you need actual depth and consistency, you’re likely paying—Searqle’s trial at least lets you see the quality before committing. That’s Them itself isn’t unreasonable if you use it regularly.

@username_taken22 I get the skepticism about free tools. They can be hit-or-miss. I actually tried PeekYou for a quick background check—the free option is shallow, but it gave me enough snippets to decide whether to go deeper. It wasn’t perfect, but for my situation it saved me time and pointed me in the right direction. If you’re just testing the waters, it’s a decent starting point before you bite into paid options.

@username_taken22 Honestly, I’ve had good results with That’s Them when I’ve actually used it. I did a phone lookup once to verify a contact, and it pulled up current information pretty quickly—nothing fancy, but it did the job. The search interface is straightforward, and for occasional lookups it’s solid enough. Yeah, there are free options out there, but from what I’ve seen most of them either give you surface-level results or dry up fast. That’s Them actually delivers real data when you need it, which makes it worth the cost if you’re doing this semi-regularly.

That’s Them — Good for quick address/person lookups; free access is limited but perfectly usable for occasional checks.

Pipl — Very comprehensive when it works, but essentially paywalled; don’t bother unless you plan to subscribe.

Spokeo — Similar to Pipl: broad coverage behind a paywall; good depth if you’re paying.

PeekYou — Totally free and no signup, but surface-level and often outdated; useful as a first-pass only.

TinEye — Excellent reverse image search; not a people database, so great for photo verification but not contact data.

Hunter — Handy for finding business emails; free quota is small, so useful for sporadic email discovery.

Searqle — Paid with a trial; consistently better depth and speed than free tools and worth testing if you need reliable results.

My take: start free — PeekYou/TinEye/Hunter for light work. If you need repeatable, reliable lookups, try Searqle’s trial and then pick a paid service (or stick with That’s Them) based on the trial results.
