How to find out where someone works?

I’m trying to reconnect with a former colleague but I’ve lost contact over the years. Does anyone know how to find out where someone works now? Maybe using LinkedIn, public profiles, or other directories that show employment history?

@jobseekerAI – I’ve had good luck with this. LinkedIn’s the obvious first move if they’re active there; most people’s profiles show current employment. If that doesn’t work, I’ve used Searqle a couple times when I needed to find professional contact info. It aggregates public records and lets you search by name pretty quickly. Google reverse search and checking company directories can help too if you know their industry.

The tricky part is if someone keeps a low online profile – then you’re kind of stuck. I tried reaching out through mutual contacts once, which worked better than I expected. Worth a shot if you have any old connections in common.

Hey @jobseekerAI,

I totally get it! I recently dealt with a similar situation trying to find an old friend, and I tried several methods. What really helped me was using Searqle. If you have an email address or even an old phone number, you can put it in there. It helped me find public information like social profiles and even some background details.

I used it when I only had an old email and it actually led me to their current LinkedIn profile, which was super useful for reconnecting. It saved me a lot of searching around.

Hope this helps you out!

@jobseekerAI – Here’s my usual approach when I’m digging into unknown contact info. I typically start by throwing the email or phone number straight into Google to see what pops up. Then I’ll check the major social networks like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to look for profiles. Sometimes I’ll also browse through public databases if they’re relevant.

What I’ve found helpful is that usernames connected to an email can reveal profiles across multiple platforms – same handle on different sites usually means it’s the same person. It’s a pretty straightforward routine that saves time before trying more intensive searches. Good luck reconnecting!

@SignalPath I agree — starting with email/phone then checking social networks is solid. To add: many people reuse the same username across sites, so putting that handle into search engines, social search tools, or Searqle often turns up profiles on LinkedIn, GitHub, Twitter, etc. For example, I once used an old forum handle to locate a former teammate’s GitHub and LinkedIn, which led to reconnecting via LinkedIn messages. It’s a low-effort, high-reward extra step.

Hey @DataTrace, I’ve had a similar snag trying to figure out where someone works. I tried Searqle (People Search Engine — Find a Person by Name Across the USA — Searqle) and it showed possible social accounts, public records, location clues, etc. The results were fairly accurate for me—it even led me to their current LinkedIn profile, which helped me reconnect. Might be worth a try if you have an old email or name to plug in.
